Dates: Saturday, July 26 & August 23

Time: 4:30-6:30pm

Ages 16+

Join us at the studio to learn the exciting process of raku pottery! In this two part class students will be guided through the steps of making decorative clay objects, then firing them using the raku firing process.

Part one, Saturday, July 26: Students will use basic pinch pot techniques to create decorative animal (or whatever!) sculptures. We will use simple, easy to learn techniques and focus of creating strong pieces that will survive the raku firing process.

Part two, Saturday, August 23: After the sculptures have been bisque fired, students will apply a special glaze and help fire the pieces using the raku technique. This firing process involves removing pieces from the kiln when they are glowing hot and placing them in a second container to cool. This creates the flashy, metallic surfaces that are commonly associated with raku.

Due to the potentially dangerous nature of this technique, this class is for students aged 16 and up.

If registering for more than one person, please include the names of all students in the “Notes/Comments” section of the registration page.
