Summer Clay Camp!!
Summer Clay Camp!!
Summer Clay Camp, Age 9 - 13
Date: June 29 - July 3
Throughout the week students will learn the basics of building pots and sculptures from clay, as well as how to throw on a pottery wheel.
The first half of the week will cover hand building techniques such as soft slab, low relief carving, and narrative surface decoration. These more complicated projects will challenge the students’ creativity while still being easy enough for those without clay experience. The second half of the week students will learn how to throw on a pottery wheel, focusing on simple functional forms like cups and bowls.
After everything has had time to thoroughly dry out, Riverside Pottery will fire all of the students’ work, glaze it, and fire it again. The finished pieces will be ready to pick up 3-4 weeks after the camp.
